connect Makey Makey or Makey Makey Go to smartphone
« on: September 24, 2016, 01:25:24 PM »
Hey folks, I would like to know if and how the Makey Makey versions can be connected to a smartphone and which kind of input they provide to it.

I saw a photo of a MM GO connected to a samsung phone and to a tinfoil sword. How does this work?

I have a standard Makey Makey and a samsung galaxy s7. Could they work together? What kinds of input does the Makey Makey provide to the phone? Key presses? Touch?

Best,
Johanna

Hey Johanna,

The Makey Makey Classic can work with some tablets and smartphones if you have a usb adapter, and, a usb hub to act as  a bridge.

The Makey Makey GO works with many mobile devices with just a USB adapter (no hub), but there's just not that much you can do software-wise.

Makey Makeys send keyboard / mouse data to a machine. That works great with computers, but mobile devices rely mostly on touch data.

The sword in the video is just running this scratch program https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/59235454/

Hope that's helpful!

Best,
Liam

Do you have a specific app you want to use Makey Makey with?
