How to use in 1:1 iPad school
« on: July 22, 2016, 12:09:32 PM »
Saw an earlier post (iPad + Makey Makey + coding app to make music?
« on: March 08, 2016, 03:38:06 PM ») stating they use the lightning USB adaptors.  Do these truly allow you to use iPads with MakeyMakey?  Don't want to purchase only to find out they don't work.  I also don't particularly want to reprogram the MakeyMakeys to work with an adaptor.  New to all this! :)

Hey litkebj,

From what I know, the answer is. . . kind of.

If you have the lightening - USB adapter, and you run the Makey Makey through an independently powered USB hub, then it can work.
Makey Makey GO seems to work without the USB hub.

The thing is that not many iOS apps use keyboard / mouse data, so at this point there isn't much to do with an iPad even with the USB hub.

Also, tablets are not officially supported on Makey Makey.
