Hello... Few issues with cable length...
« on: January 21, 2016, 04:09:44 AM »

I got a MakeyMakey for my Scout Group, I had the idea of having contacts on the four walls of the rooms and the Scouts (connected to Earth) having to run and press a contact to control the different arrow keys in a game of Tetris... problem i had was when i extended out the cables the MakeyMakey just picks up continuous key presses from the cables - in fact we even got that my just extending out the cables by two crocodile clip lengths.

Is there a simple filter i could make and put into the cables to smooth out the detection levels or would that just confuse the MakeyMakey processor?

I was using quite thin cable too, so, may need to up my cable gauge.

Thanks, Mike

Hey Mike,

Hm.  You're saying that without an Earth connection these extended wires are just sending signals on their own?  Does this happen even when no one is touching the wires?

I'm assuming it's the Makey Makey Classic you're using.

Hm.  The gauge of the wire shouldn't make a difference, but using incased wire instead of conjoining alligator clips might help!
